The Valley View Park is Now Open

Date
July 19, 2019

Recently, this last Wednesday, July 17th in 2019, the East Gwillimbury community gathered together to celebrate a momentous occasion - the official opening of the brand new Valley View Park. It was an exciting day, to be sure, where fun was had by all.

Boasting an attendance level of around 350 participants and an additional 40 kids from both the Adventure and Senior Sports Camp, there were many special guests taking part as well. In fact, Mayor Virginia Hackson was there to officially open Valley View Park.

Also adding to the good times of the Valley View Park official opening and community celebration was free ice cream provided to all the park goers. Quite happily, the ice cream that was handed out was eagerly appreciated by everyone. The humidity thus far had been particularly oppressive that day, and we at Queensville were thrilled that our modest contribution provided our park-going neighbours with the means to escape the torrid heat and enjoy Valley View Park’s new features to the fullest.

However, since ice cream alone would not have been enough to slake the appetites of everybody who was there, in order to truly celebrate the official opening of Valley View Park the Holland Landing Lions’ Club took things to the next level and delivered an absolutely amazing BBQ lunch. All the guests at Valley View Park were very appreciative of the gesture - and suffice it to say, there were smiling faces abound as the guests dived deep into the delectable deliciousness that was the BBQ lunch.

With their bellies full and their temperatures cooled, the fun of the day reached its zenith when the clouds that had been threatening rain all day instead chose to part and released warm sunshine down onto the festivities of the Valley View Park Grand Opening day.

Now, getting into the specifics of Valley View Park, its many impressive amenities are perfect for kids of all ages and parents to enjoy. The new Valley View Park encompasses a total of 4.82 acres and is located in the community of Queensville. It features both junior and senior kids’ play equipment, a comfortable shade structure, a zip-line, an irrigated soccer field, and a walking trail.

In addition to the Mayor, members of Council and Town staff joined in the festivities and even tried out East Gwillimbury’s first-ever zip-line. Other notable guests at the Valley View Park Grand Opening included the General Manager of Community Parks, Recreation and Culture Mr. Aaron Karmazyn and Ward Two Councillors Tara Roy-DiClemente and Joe Persechini.

Mayor Hackson kicked off the event by sharing some of the exciting amenities and new features incorporated in the park’s unique design. Park-goers can look forward to enjoying the ample shade provided by the gargantuan structure (relative to most other parks) as well as East Gwillimbury’s first-ever zip-line.

Indeed, as Mayor Hackson told the crowd, “each and every feature [they saw] in the park [had] been carefully thought out and planned to ensure that residents will enjoy the park for years to come.”

But more than that, “Queensville will also be home to [the] next recreation facility. The Health & Active Living Plaza will be located on the ground north of Jim Mortson Drive as you drive into the community.”

With such an impressive recreation facility on the way, it’s no wonder so many people are now looking to call East Gwillimbury and the community of Queensville home.

If you want to explore Valley View Park for yourself, then there’s no time like the present - or at the very least the near future, in which to do it. Come on down and spend some time enjoying its exceptional amenities and pleasant ambiance, we’re sure you’ll be glad you did. Valley View Park is located at 175 Walter English Drive and is now one of the best places in Queensville to enjoy an abundance of sun and fun.
